I have a question in Syntax

the function of the Ditransitive verb can be formed in two ways
1- v-{NP PP}a
2- v-{NP NP}a

in ur sentencce
story is Direct Object (complement)a
the children is indirect Object ( also complement)a
in the first sentence , we applied the first form
Ali told a story to the children


in the second sentence , we applied the second one

Ali told the children a story


so the verb of both sentences u wrote is an example of Ditransitive

but, the complex and transitive verbs are another case,
an example of Complex verbs
the police set the prisoner free
here we cannot move the prisoner into the the place of "free " , while in Ditransitive we can do that
