Hieronimo. The protagonist of the story. Hieronimo starts out as a loyal servant to the king. He is the king's knight marshal, and is in charge of organizing entertainment's at royal events. At the beginning of the play, he is a minor character especially in relation to Lorenzo, Balthazar and Bel-Imperia . He is unlucky man and had a devoted wife . His grief and pain is very deep after his son murdered , and he wants to take revenge , and he took revenge. A personal duty to find and punish the criminal . His life is full of misery and sadness.

Bel-Imperia. The main female character of the story. The daughter of the Duke Castile , she is headstrong , as evidenced by her decisions to love Andrea and Horatio , both against her father's wishes. She is intelligent, beautiful and moments of love, tender. Balthazar loves her but she hates him strongly , she also is bent on revenge both for her slain lover Andrea and for Horatio. She encourages Hieronimo to take revenge and promises to help him.

Lorenzo. One of Horatio's murderers. He is the Don Ciprian's son , and the king of Spain nephew. He is a loyal to the king, and obedient of his father, and he cared for the interests of the nation . He exploited people for his gains, and made people fearful to achieve his end's. He is a killer of many characters, and at the became victim himself.
