Adverbial Complements whith Intransitive Verbs
ذكرناها لما شرحنا أنواع الأفعال فوق فهنا تكرار :)

عندكم الجملة رقم 22 :
The newspaper remained with Mr. Ellis for three hours

نجي نفصل الجملة :

عندنا الفـآعل Su اللي هو جملة اسميةNP مكون من أداة تعريف Det و الاسم الرئيس The newspaper

بعدها الجملة الفعلية كـآملة : VP
remained with Mr. Ellis for three hours

مكونة من الفعل الرئيس remained

نجي للفعل و نقول هل بوجود الفاعل و الفعل فقط معنى الجملة حيكون تام و مكتمل ؟
بنلاحظ أنه المعنى ناقص و ماهو وآضح فيه غموض Ambiguity

لأنها بتصيـر The newspaper remained

الجريدة بقيت و أسكت طيب عند مين ؟ ماهو وآضح لذلك الفعل يحتاج بعده لملحق و مُكمل يوضح ماهية و آكشن الفعل اللي هو حيكون وظيفته مفعول به object

فلما أقول :
The newspaper remained with Mr. Ellis

بنلاقي معنى الجملة تام و مُكتمل لذلك المفعول به اللي بعد الجملة يُسمى Adverbial complement

ليش adverbial لأنه يجي بعد الفـآعل و ليش complement لأنه تتم لمعنى الجملة و ضروري obligatory و لا يمكن حذفه

* بقي شغلة بالجملة الـ for three hours

أيش دورها بالجملة هل هي ضرورية فتعتبر complement أو إضافية و يمكن حذفها فتصير adjunct

The newspaper remained with Mr. Ellis
هنا معنى الجملة تام و مكتمل موضح عن أيش الفاعل يدل و الفعل أيش وظيفته و المفعول به موضح و مُتم لوظيفة الفعل

The newspaper remained for three hours
هنا الفاعل اللي قام عليه الحدث و الفعل جاء بعدهم أداة جر PP لكنها ما تشرح و لا توضح مين اللي قام بوظيفة و مهمة الفعل لذلك الجملة تعتبر خاطئة

For three hours, the newspaper remained with Mr. Ellis
الـ PP نقدر نعمله Fronting و بالتالي معنى الجملة صحيح و مكتمل
هذا دليل على أن الجملة pp تعتبـر VP-Adjunct

بمعنى مُبسط : لو لقيتوا فعل INTRANSITIVE و جاء بعده PP أو AdvP أو
حتكون COMPLEMENT لو كانت توصف حال الفعل و الفاعل و متمه لوظيفة الفعل و موضحه للفاعل
فلها و ظيفية اسمها Adverbial Function

و حتكون ADJUNCT لو ما كانت توصف أي شيء من اللي أعـــلآهـ فقط مكان .. كيفية .. نشاط .. مدة زمنية أو وقت لتكمل الفعل و ممكن نغير موضعها .

في صفحة 75 عند الأمثلة من 32 إلى 38
توضح أنه الفعل to be احنا قلنا أنه عادة يكون copula لكنه هنا جاء على أنه intransitive
مثـآل :
32- He is in London
الفاعل He
الفعل is
المفعول به in London جاء يوصف مكـآن فهو pp و يعتبر complement و ليس predicate لأنه ما يوصف شيء يدل على الفـآعل ( خبر للفاعل )

و حدد المثال 97 :
William walked slowly down the road

الحال : slowly تعتبر VP-Adjunct
هي اختيارية و يمكن حذفها لأن الفعل intransitive
و هي VP-Adjunct لأنها وقعت دآخل الجملة الفعلية
و مالها أي نشاط تؤديه و لا تدل على وقت و لا زمن و لا كيفية لذلك هي non- adverbial function

و الأمـر ذاته على باقي الجمل اللي حددها لكم من 98 إلى 103
